A Bit About Me

My life with art is like having a loyal companion that follows me wherever I go. My first career was in the sign writing industry, building three dimensional props and painting signs for many shop fronts and even television sets in Sydney.

This was a great start for pursuing the path of creativity and was definitely my thing in life, I could always draw and sculpt with little trouble. I changed careers in my late 20s to venture into the great outdoors and become a structural landscape gardener, this turned out to be a great creative outlet, designing and building gardens, sculpting landscapes, building water features and stone walls etc, nurturing within me a deep respect and connection with nature.

All the while I kept my loyal companion very close, honing my skills in sculpture, drawing and oil painting, as well as writing poetry. I am mainly self-taught in all of my creative outlets. In my mid to late 50s I decided to focus my attention on art.

We recently moved to Glen Huon in the stunning Huon Valley, Tasmania where I can spend time in our studio painting as well as the great outdoors, plein air painting. With so much diverse and stunning scenery to choose from to paint, every day is a new adventure with the brush.

My inspiration is the creative companion that I have admired for so long following me so closely all these years and now the time has come to finally make something of it. I have chosen to focus on painting landscapes in oil on boards, canvas paper and canvas.
